Challenge
Smoking cessation is a complex journey, often hindered by withdrawal symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, and mood swings. Traditional smoke breaks provide smokers with moments of relaxation, socialization, and stress relief, making it challenging to find effective, healthier alternatives during the quitting process.
Solution
Recognizing the therapeutic potential of music, Nicorette partnered with the Berklee Music and Health Institute to develop "SmokeLess Break Beats"—a pioneering music therapy program designed to support individuals on their quit-smoking journey. This collaboration enlisted over 30 Berklee students and faculty to compose eight original tracks, each crafted to mimic the psychological benefits smokers seek during smoke breaks.
Implementation
The program offers four curated playlists, each targeting specific needs identified among smokers:
